Washington DC, The Center Cafe
By editor | August 25, 2008
The Center Cafe is located smack in the middle of the main hall in Washington DC’s Union Station. The Center Cafe is without a doubt, the finest train station bar I have ever had the pleasure of drinking at. As fellow business travelers I know all of you reading this spend a lot of time in train station and airport bars. This can be a painful experience, but for all the no name, no fun bars and Dick Clarks Rock and Roll Grill’s that have to be endured, there is a great place like the center cafe.
The Cafe is a great place just to look at, its a huge circle with a bar on the floor and additional seating on a second floor. It sits right in the middle of the busy concourse and is perfect for people watching. They have a full menu where you can get several appetizers for under ten bucks. The best part? Cheap ass drinks! You can get a scotch here for five bucks, train station bars are know for being overpriced, this is the rare example of a cheap, yet classy and fun place to while a way a few hours waiting for that next amtrak for home.
